It's a good idea to connect all the different shapes and objects together in your painting rather than having things in isolation. So in a street scene, groups of people 'merge' together, a row of parked cars appear as one shape, and connecting with shadows. In this video I cover this topic and other general watercolor techniques as well.

In this demo I will be covering...

1) The importance of connecting things together in your painting and the importance of choosing a good subject.

2) Materials I use such as the paper. I will also cover the paints I use and the palette, plus how I hold the different brushes for different techniques.

3) Doing the outline sketch as the first step. Joining the shapes and figures. Getting perspective correct in a street scene.

4) Doing the sky and the first wash of the background and then the foreground.

5) Shadows and details of the figures and road signs.

6) Watch out for the highlighting tips.
